Why Migrate to Notion?

Switching tools is a significant decision. You have invested time in your current setup. But if you use 3-4 separate tools for notes, tasks, docs, and wikis, consolidating into Notion dramatically simplifies your workflow. This guide walks through migrating from the most common tools.

Migrating from Evernote

Notion has a built-in importer. Export .enex from Evernote Desktop, then go to Settings → Import → Evernote. Most formatting, images, and attachments transfer. Notebooks become top-level pages, notes become sub-pages, tags become Multi-Select properties. Allow 15-30 minutes to review and reorganize.

Migrating from Trello

Settings → Import → Trello and authorize. Each board becomes a Notion database with Board view. Lists become Select options, cards become entries. Checklists, dates, and attachments transfer. Team assignments may need re-adding after import.

Migrating from Asana

No direct Notion importer. Export Asana projects as CSV, then import CSVs into Notion databases. Manually recreate custom fields as Notion properties. For complex setups, migrate one project at a time.

Migrating from Confluence

Export spaces as HTML, then use Notion Import. Most formatting transfers. Confluence-specific macros (like Jira embeds) may not. For large instances, consider using the Notion API or Zapier.

After Migration: Setting Up for Success

Do not try to recreate your old system exactly. Redesign your workflow. Start simple, use database templates, link databases with Relations, and build dashboards showing only what you need. For setup inspiration, see our beginner's guide.
